Quick Facts

  • Bronson supported LMIC in upscaling the LMIC Data Hub by conducting market research on similar public and private labour market data systems.
  • The project involved developing a comparative analysis template and identifying all relevant data delivery systems.
  • Bronson provided comprehensive analysis, status reports, and final recommendations to avoid duplication of existing systems.

Project Description

The Labour Market Information Council (LMIC) partnered with Future Skills Canada (FSC) to develop the LMIC Data Hub – a source of easy-to-access LMI that originates from open public sources, public-but-difficult-to-access sources and private sources. The first iteration of the LMIC Data Hub, was launched in late 2021. LMIC was interested in upscaling the Data Hub but prior to doing so, required market research of similar public and private labour market data systems to be conducted. More specifically LMIC required support to Identify and objectively analyse and assess similar systems or products already available; and to determine solutions to avoid the duplication of existing systems.

To complete this assignment, Bronson carried out the following tasks:

  • Established an understanding of the current LMIC data hub;
  • Developed a template to facilitate a comparative analysis of the current LMIC data hub against the various data delivery systems/platforms in scope;
  • Identified and confirmed all in-scope data delivery systems/platforms;
  • Conducted analysis of all in-scope data delvery systems through empirical research and consultation with representative and clients of each of the data delivery systems/platforms;
  • Developed status reports and interim presentations for LMIC project authority including Board of Directors; and
  • Developed a draft and final report summarizing findings.

Business Challenge

The Labour Market Information Council (LMIC) needed to upscale the LMIC Data Hub, requiring market research to identify and assess similar labour market data systems. The goal was to avoid duplication and enhance the Data Hub’s effectiveness and comprehensiveness.

Our Solution and Outcome

Bronson began by establishing a thorough understanding of the current LMIC Data Hub and developed a template for comparative analysis and identified all in-scope data delivery systems. Bronson conducted detailed empirical research and consultations with representatives and clients of each system to gather relevant information.

Bronson provided LMIC with status reports and interim presentations, including updates to the Board of Directors. The process culminated in a draft and final report summarizing the findings and providing recommendations.

The outcome was a well-informed strategy for upscaling the LMIC Data Hub, ensuring it did not duplicate existing systems while enhancing its utility and accessibility.
