In partnership with Palantir, Bronson was thrilled to host “AI for Executives” at the Royal Ottawa Golf Club on November 23rd, 2023. The event showcased the diverse aspects of AI across multiple domains and offered a comprehensive exploration of AI’s evolving role in data governance and strategic planning. Attendees gained a holistic view of AI’s strategic, operational, and ethical aspects, enriched by the speakers’ extensive expertise and experience. The event was not only a platform for understanding AI’s present status, but also a vision-casting session for its potential impact in both public and private sectors.
Martin McGarry, President and Chief Data Scientist of Bronson, opened the session by highlighting the transformative potential of AI and Generative AI in public sector operations, illustrating their significant opportunities for governmental advancement. John Walsh, Bronson’s Chief Data Officer, expanded the conversation by detailing the essential elements of a successful AI strategy, emphasizing governance, architecture, tools, and skills. Bronson’s partners at Palantir demonstrated AI in real-world applications, emphasizing the technology’s progression from theoretical to practical impacts in various sectors.
The day culminated in a thought-provoking panel discussion featuring Jen Schellinck, Carleton Adjunct Professor, Institute of Cognitive Science, Jonathan MacDonald, Exec Dir., Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, and Jennifer Schofield, CDO DND. Led by John Walsh, the discussion focused on the delicate balance between ethical considerations and the pursuit of innovation in AI. This segment brought to light the intricate challenges and responsibilities associated with AI development and deployment.
