Project Description
Bronson assembled a multi-disciplinary team (Cloud Architect, Project Manager, Tableau specialists) to support Saskatchewan Polytechnic in the migration of their Tableau Server from a Bronson held AWS cloud instance to a Microsoft Azure Platform. This work involved extensive consultation and coordination with Saskatchewan Polytechnic resources from a number of departments (IT services, Applications and Integration Development, Applications Development).
To carry out this work, the Bronson team completed the following tasks:
- Established an understand of the Saskatchewan Polytechnic environment and requirements;
- Created a staging and production environment within Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Azure tenant;
- Performed a back-up of the AWS Tableau server and transferred the Tableau server to Azure’s staging environment and performed testing;
- Performed a final back-up of the AWS Production Tableau server and migrated it to Azure’s production environment;
- Performed post migration monitoring and tweaking as required; and
- Provided project management services throughout the duration of the contract to ensure a common and efficient transition.

Our Solution and Outcome
Our Bronson team began by gaining an understanding of the Saskatchewan Polytechnic environment and its requirements. After establishing staging and production environments within the Azure tenant, we meticulously backed up the AWS Tableau server, and then transferred it to Azure’s staging environment for testing purposes. Following the successful testing, we conducted a final backup of the AWS Production Tableau server and migrated it to Azure’s production environment. Post-migration, the environment was monitored and settings adjusted as necessary. The team also provided comprehensive project management services throughout the contract duration, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition process.
