Project Description

Bronson was tasked to replicate an existing excel dashboard using Tableau. Specifically, the Ottawa International Airport Authority developed a dashboard entitled the 2019 Airport Comparison Dashboard which essentially illustrates a number of metrics about multiple Canadian airports.

Given the limited utility and effectiveness of Excel for purposes of dashboards, it was determined the same information needed to be displayed using the Tableau platform. Bronson was also tasked to develop a methodology for illustrating a number of productivity metrics; all with differing units of measurement.

Bronson woked closed with the Ottawa Airport Project Authority to ensure the Tableau dashboard fulfilled the intended objective.

Business Challenge

The Ottawa International Airport Authority needed to transition their 2019 Airport Comparison Dashboard from Excel to Tableau to improve the dashboard’s utility and effectiveness. Additionally, they required a new methodology to accurately illustrate various productivity metrics, each with differing units of measurement.

Our Solution and Outcome

Bronson successfully replicated the existing Excel dashboard using Tableau, taking advantage of Tableau’s advanced data visualization and interactivity features to improve the dashboard’s effectiveness. By developing a methodology to illustrate productivity metrics with differing units of measurement there was clarity and consistency in the visualizations.

Throughout the project, Bronson maintained close collaboration with the Ottawa Airport Project Authority to ensure the Tableau dashboard aligned with their objectives. The outcome was a more efficient and user-friendly dashboard that enhanced the presentation and analysis of key metrics for multiple Canadian airports.
